The Los Angeles Film School welcomes the Creator of the
Scream Trilogy, Wes Craven, & Producer Marianne Maddalena
|
The Los Angeles Film School screened "Scream 3"
for students and faculty. Following the screening, the
creator of the Scream Trilogy, Wes Craven, along with
producer, Marianne Maddalena, engaged in an informal question
and answer session on the making of genre films.
Wes Craven has been challenging audiences with his bold
vision for more than 25 years. In 1984, Craven reinvented
the youth horror genre with the classic "A Nightmare
on Elm Street." Although he did not go on to direct
any of the five sequels, Craven deconstructed the genre
a decade later to create "Wes Craven's New Nightmare,"
which was nominated Best Feature at the 1995 Independent
Spirit Awards. This year alone, he has created three dramatically
different works. He directed Academy Award-winning actress
Meryl Streep in "Music of the Heart," his first
dramatic feature film; he completed filming the highly
anticipated "Scream" trilogy; and he made his
debut as a novelist with Simon & Schuster's publication
of "Fountain Society," which is going into development
with Dreamworks in the summer of 2000.
Producer Marianne Maddalena is President of Craven/Maddalena
films and has collaborated with Director Wes Craven for
the past thirteen years. She joined his creative team
in 1987 for production of the Universal film "The
Serpent and the Rainbow." She served as executive
producer of "Vampire in Brooklyn," and she has
produced "The People Under the Stairs," "Wes
Craven's New Nightmare," "Shocker," and
the NBC series "Nightmare Café." In 1999,
Maddalena produced "Scream 3" and "Music
of the Heart."
